Past Presidents Prize 2023, at the SSA 125th Annual Exhibition

My dear oldest and closest friend, artist Gill Walton and I have won the Society of Scottish Artists Past Presidents Award 2023 at the SSA 125th Annual Exhibition, for our collaborative Mixed Media piece, ‘In Sotto Voce’.

Gill and I were art school undergraduates together at Cheltenham (now the University of Gloucestershire), many moons ago, & in 2021 won a joint residency at Marchmont Makers Foundation (now The Hugo Burge Foundation), in association with Borders Art Fair, in Scotland. During the month-long residency, we were focused on our own individual work, but the time also gave us the space to begin a conversation, that ultimately led us to explore a collaborative practice, alongside our own. 2023 has seen the beginning of this now ongoing process.

SSA Annual Exhibition is one of the largest and most prestigious shows of contemporary art in Scotland.. The exhibition runs from 19 November 2023 until 14 Jan 2024.
